Angry Soldiers Invade NEPA Office, Flog Staf Mercilessly Over Poor Supply. see photos
It was like a scene out of an action movie when
about 6 soldiers attached to the 35 Artillery
Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Ogun State
and led by one Major Musa, stormed the Ibadan
Electricity Distribution Company ( IBEDC )
substation – Olumo business hub, Rounder – on
March 6 and beat up Salau Adekunle, the man on
duty, over poor power supply.
Workers of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution
Company say they have become fearful in their
office when the soldiers descended on Adekunle,
the substation’s distribution officer, with horse
whips, because, presently on the average, the
barracks and environs get 5 hours supply daily,
which falls short of the soldiers’ expectation.
Narrating his experience to the Punch, Adekunle
said:
“They told me to get up and without explanation,
they started beating me. They complained that
they did not get supply regularly, but it is not our
fault. They said they would be the ones to
determine the number of hours they want power.
We told them it was not possible, but they didn’t
want to listen.”
Corroborating the story, Adekunle’s colleague,
said, “Electricity supply is divided into 3 levels –
generation, transmission and distribution. This
implies that generation affects transmission,
which in turn affects distribution.
“If there is less sufficient generated power, then
there will be less power at our own side to
distribute to the community, including the
barracks. Before now, there was supply for at
least 8 hours and at times, 15 hours. Electricity
generation has reduced from 4517MW to 2800MW
and now to over 1500MW.
“All this is known and understood by the soldiers,
but they pretend as if they do not know; that is
why they now get 5 hours’ supply per day.
Initially, the soldiers blamed us. Soon, it
graduated to threats. They once arrested us and
took us to their barracks and detained us for
hours; l was a victim.”
Another official said they had been living in fear
since the incident happened, adding that threats
from the soldiers had intensified. “They said it
would not be threats again, but killing. Major
Musa said he would send soldiers we don’t
know. We spoke out because we cannot wait for
them to kill us.

Saraki Loses As Code Of Conduct Tribunal Refuses To Quash Corruption Charges

The Code of Conduct Tribunal has dismissed an application by the senate president, Bukola Saraki, for false asset declaration charges against him to be dropped.
Mr. Saraki’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, had argued that the 13-count charge was invalid procedurally because the Code of Conduct Bureau which filed the charges, failed to allow Mr. Saraki explain discrepancies in his assets declaration forms as required by law.
But in his ruling Thursday, the chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, said there was no breach of law as the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, 1989, still allows the senate president raise his clarifications at the level of the tribunal.

Senate: New Twists Place PDP In Driving Seat

By Fred Itua, Abuja
AT last, the trial of the Senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), over his alleged under-declaration of assets when he held sway as governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011, has commenced. Although it is still too early to predict where the pendulum will shift to at the end of the trial, interest groups are already aligning and plotting on how to succeed the embattled Senate President in the event that he is convicted by the tribunal.

Apply Ruling On Tinubu To My Case – Saraki Tells CCT
Senate President Bukola Saraki maintained yesterday that the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) must discharge and acquit him the way it did to former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) should have invited him to clarify issues on his asset declaration form before charging him to the tribunal for alleged false asset declaration, a ground for which, he said, the CCT struck out a similar case against Tinubu.

"Come Out And Vote To Shame GEJ, His Wife & Wike"-amaechi To Rivers Residents
Ahead
of the Rivers state rerun election for House of Assembly, House of
Representatives and Senate members, former Rivers state governor and
Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has asked people of the state to
come out en-mass and vote for APC so as to shame former President
Jonathan, his wife Patience and the present governor of the state,
Nyesom Wike.
Amaechi said this while speaking at a townhall meeting with members of Afara community in the state today March 15th. Amaechi alleged that the former President worked against the progress of the state by "forcing" Nyesom Wike on them as their governor
"We must stop Nyesom Wike and the only way we can stop him is to vote the APC in the house of representatives, house of assembly and senate. I built a secondary school and it has been taken over by weeds. It is the punishment that former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, in her bid to get money from me, did on us. They forced Wike on us without election. In their time, they threw APC members into detention, but is there any PDP member in detention now? That’s the difference between them and us. This is our opportunity to vote and put shame on them; we have to put shame on three persons: the first person is the former president, the second, is his wife and the third is Wike. The fourth is those who do not recognise the use of card reader, those who first said the magnitude of violence in Rivers was too heavy and moved the election tribunal to Abuja, but later came back to say there was no election, we leave them to God"he said

Kogi Tribunal Discourse: Yahaya Bello Is Technically Out
As
hearing continues at the Kogi Governorship Election Petition Tribunal

Today, the social media came alive, first, with the pictures of the Chief of Staff, Mr. Edward Onoja dozing uncontrollably during tribunal sitting before he was docked in the witness box. Unfortunate confessions by this star witness left Yahaya Bello supporters gasping for breathe.
